How do you secure your weapon in your vehicle when you can't take it with you? I asked the Google and was quickly overloaded with info.

If I'm not wearing it, I have it in a locked Gun Vault 2000 in the console.

The Charger Pursuit came with no center console, so I had to install a Havis unit (http://www.havis.com/products/CON_VS_24TMS_0DG_HC_CHGR_11_16-41215-72.html) after I took delivery. You can order various accessories that install in the console: cupholders, switch plates, open-top and locking boxes, etc.
I installed a locking steel box (http://www.havis.com/products/CON_ACSY_BOX_IM_9MS_4_5d_W_LID-35072-879.html) big enough to hold the Glock 20 "car gun" and three spare mags. It's deep enough to also fit my Safepacker with the Glock 29 when I need to drop it in there.

I have a lock box that secures to the seat post via a cable. Similar to this one.

I have 2 in my vehicle. Had one with the combination lock but it stopped working and had to pry it open just enough to release the cable so I could take the box indoors to finish opening it.
No more combi-locks for me. Just keys.

I purchased 2 different boxes similar to Hawkeye's but are opened with a key.
The first one was really cheap and I think came from Walmart, it was very thin and I didn't like it very much but I guess for temporary use it would have been ok.
The cost was under $15
The second one I bought was constructed of heavier steel and I liked it better then the first box. It was around $20-$25...
You can either use an included cable to attach it to a seat bracket or some other fixed part in the car.
The box also has 2 holes that you can use to bolt it directly to the chassis or some part of your interior to keep it from being grabbed out of the car.
I haven't used it since I purchased it but you never know when it could come in handy its worth the $$$$ to have one in case.

The ones I mentioned are the Stack-On PC-95K; they can be bought at Tractor Supply for $20.

I have a lock box that secures to the seat post via a cable.
I use mine for just short periods of time. They will protect you from the "smash and grab" type of burglaries which are the most common way items are stolen from cars.

I have a couple of these in my vehicles and they work great. I also have a larger version I use if traveling for a few days or longer where we may have multiple handguns. Consider a second for ammunition since some states require the firearm and ammo be in separate boxes and I prefer separate lockable boxes.
Stay away from fingerprint / scanner lock boxes as they are not reliable. Wet, sweaty, dirty, not aligned, etc finger are just a few situations where they are known to fail.

I have a Gun Vault brand with a key lock. Don't trust combo lock. I've had mine for 5+ years. Would buy another if I felt the need for one.
