Title: COSTCOs Christiana Mall: anti?????
Post by: Mac19701 on December 13, 2016, 11:01:43 PM
Have been COSTCO member for years and always carried IWB in their store.  Heard recently they have an anti gun policy on their web site but I've seen nothing in the store.  Anyone with experience?  Comments?

I've never noticed anything, I've been carrying IWB there since I got my permit.

Our Costco does not have an anti-gun sign.
The day we see one there, we'll go straight to the membership desk and demand a refund for our membership fee.

Never go there without my pistol. I have never seen a sign there.

Still going to carry concealed. Thanks for that information Radnor. Costco is within their rights. I bet it will not be long before they install a sign.

Once again. Carry because out of sight out of mind. It is nobody's business that you decided to protect yourself.

Thanx for all replies. Good discussion. Wasn't aware of of prior post ( thnx).  They sure sound anti. Guess I'll continue to carry concealed as I've always done.

Their gun views came to light after that CCer was killed by the cops in Nevada.

Not to beat a dead horse, but was online looking into a Costco membership and came across this:

I just wouldn't shop there.  Kind of silly to shop at a place that charges you to be a so called "member" that wants to tell you that you can't defend yourself.

Just say no.  It's their club.

Yeah, well, we shop there... same as we shop at the mall, and go to the movies. F*** their signs, they're not scaring us off. We have as much right to be there as anyone else.

What would the legal ramifications be if you were forced to use your gun in self defense in a public place that bans guns?

The signs do not have force of law, so you're not breaking any laws... so, none.
IANAL, YMMV.

What I posted wasn't a sign, it was conditions of membership that requires you to digitally accept before proceeding.  I wonder if that might carry more legal weight than a sign.

Can always take you money to BJ's....

Yeah... Costco, where a corporate policy on their Web site says you can't carry... or BJ's, which charges more, looks like a post-apocalyptic Home Depot, and is second only to WalMart as a place where you will probably NEED to carry.
I'll stick with Costco.

Let's look at the situation this way:
| CC?| Event| Probability| Impact
| Yes| CC not detected| Very high| None
| Yes | CC detected| Low| Asked to leave premises
| No| SHTF | Very low| Serious to catastrophic
| Yes| SHTF | Very Low| Event avoided, prevented, or neutralized

Take your pick. I've made my decision.

Don't have a Costco in lower slower Delaware. I guess we're just lucky that way.

If that place is Costco, you might not be able to shop there anymore!

Like it has been said, you might not be able to shop there. There would be no criminal ramifications, but if you were to be sued civilly, and a scum bag lawyer could bring this up to a biased jury, you would be screwed.

I hear that, I carry every time we go to Costco, they don't need to know a @@@@ thing.  On a side note, took my little guy to the doctors this morning, walking right by a "no firearms allowed" sign.  Had my Glock 21 on me and nobody but me knew I had it.  Hell with those signs, I'm packing, sign or no sign.

What I'm saying is, we don't have a Costco, and you don't miss what you've never had. We will survive without them.

They do a household income analysis when scouting new areas, and have previously stated that there wouldn't be any Delmarva Penninsula locations further south than Christiana.  But, you're right, we were able to survive before the countless new stores opened in Delaware.

If you are speaking of Shooters Choice, that hasn't been the case for quite sometime. Keep your weapon holstered and you are fine.

Like Randor said . "There's only 1 gun shop worth going to and that's in Middletown" . I have been to Sc a few times and really don't see a need to go back.

Not according to their web site. From their site, today:

"No one is permitted on the premises with loaded firearms except on the firing range. The only exception is for law enforcement agents in uniform and/or on duty."

Don't care about their corporate policy or those silly little signs.

Just avoid that Gun shop.   And tell everyone else to do the same.

That gun shop has terrible customer service. If I'm spending that much money on a gun, I expect not to be talked down to.
