Good luck on the wait :)
Maybe it'll be a quick turnaround.

Recommend carrying concealed around your house to get use to the feeling. And it does take some getting use to. Most have a tendency to fidget with the gun and keep checking the safety , and position. Looking in mirrors to see if you can tell you're carrying. Calm down and relax, it will come to you. it did to all of us, Right.

StrumRugerSR9 offers up some great advice with the above post. Definitely carry around the house and get used to carrying, and also do some dry practice drawing from concealment. It'll help you to be more confident when your permit does come in and you start carrying for real.  The only thing I'd like to add is to make sure not to leave the four walls of your house if you are carrying concealed around the house to get acclimated to carrying. Title 11 allows a carve out to carry concealed IN your house without a permit, but as soon as you step outside, your are engaged in a felony, specifically carrying a concealed deadly weapon without a license.  Get dinged for that and it's major bad juju.  It's a felony conviction, typically a year on Level 2 probation and a permanent loss of your right to even touch a firearm for the rest of your life.

If you want to "carry" outside your house invest in a blue gun. Find the right wardrobe and the comfortable adjustment in a variety of situations (it's hard to practice driving a car in your living room). Develop the "no touching" discipline. When the "golden" ticket arrives, the transition is easy. Blue gun is good for practicing draws.

Thanks for the note! I am considering ankle or pocket carry.  Looking into a Ruger LCP II as my primary. I really don't like things on my waist or hip, it' just uncomfortable to me.

Hi Larryness,
I pocket carry the LCP pro in the summer. Lot of good pocket holsters out there, such as Uncle Mike's, and Desantis. I also carry a spare mag in the pocket. Ankle carry isn't an option for me because of bending issues (chronic illness + age). I'll also pocket carry the Sprinfield XDs in 45acp. Size is good, but it's a bit heavy.

I will repeat that StrumRuger offers great advice. The wait for your permit is worse than waiting at Christmas for the new bike when you were a kid. Hope it will not be too long for you. Good luck and regards to you.
