This is from VCDL President Phil Van Cleave. It's important enough to put it here in the Nation 2A Issues forum

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION IF NATIONAL RECIPROCITY IS IMPORTANT TO YOU !!

Please repost on Social Media and other gun forums you frequent to get the word out !

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I just created a White House petition asking the President to urge Congress to pass H.R. 38 as soon as possible and get the bill on his desk!

THIS IS TIME SENSITIVE AND WE NEED TO SPREAD THE WORD FAR AND WIDE ACROSS THE NATION!

The petition requires 100,000 signature BY AUGUST 17TH to be considered by the President. Please sign and forward to any and all gun groups you know - from gun clubs, gun organizations, chat groups, friends, family, coworkers, and fellow church members!

We can do this, but we need all the help we can get from gun owners across the nation.

Here is the link to the petition:

or

Here's the wording:

National Reciprocity for the Nation's 17 Million Concealed Handgun Permit Holders!

Mr. President, you have said many times that you would sign a national concealed carry reciprocity bill. Please urge Congress to pass H.R. 38 as soon as possible!

H.R. 38 will allow America's 17 million concealed handgun permit holders to carry in every state in the Union as they go about their lives. As the recent shooting in Alexandria shows, crime and terrorism have no borders. Neither should self-defense!

No other group is as law-abiding as concealed handgun permit holders, regardless of which state they are from.

Currently over 20 states, such as Virginia, North Carolina, and Arizona, already honor permits from all other states, without issue. H.R. 38 will simply make such recognition uniform across the nation and will save many innocent American lives!

30 days is not long, guys and gals! Use any forms of social media that you can to get the word out.

Let's roll, VCDL!

HR 38 is being held up from coming to the floor for a vote by Paul Ryan, as I see it.  Currently with 204 Co-Sponsors including 3 Democrats, there is not reason to hold thia back.

Also read the Senate version currently with 37 Co-Sponsors:

I signed this a while ago when it was posted. I was checking today and only 17,969 signatures ? That's hard to believe with all the permit holders in America.

Some people just don't believe petitions make a difference. Some don't know there is a petition going around. Some petition web sites use them to get your name and email address to sell.
Lots of reasons this petition has low volume of signors.

The problem is that Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell won't bring them to the floor for a vote. Trump already said he would sign if passed. Ryan and McConnell are the gate keepers of legislation. If these bills don't come to the floor of their respective chambers, They are the ones to point fingers at. Then come their next election run, DUMP THEM, in favor of more conservative Republicans in their states.

Another follow up on HR38.

Indications are that Rep. Paul Ryan is the person who refuses to move the National Reciprocity bill along. A interview on Armed American Radio with Mark Walters was with Rep. Massie who introduced the bill. He stated that every time he asked Paul Ryan to bring the the Reciprocity bill forward his response is "not at this time". Paul Ryan apparently is not our friend in this situation. If not now when? If we don't get this done it will never happen. This is the closest we will ever get, another opportunity will not arise.

If Paul Ryan was worth his salt, we'd be calling him Mr. Vice President in his second term. As House Speaker, he seems to delight in failure and obstruction even after President Trump saved his bacon in the primary that he was losing.

Most people tend to forget that the rich/powerful/famous folks only reallly care about the rich/powerfu/famous folks.  Oh, sure, if they can find a bunch to pander to, they'll do that -- but they don't really care about them.
