Title: Any news regarding HB 232?
Post by: Packing_Nine on August 25, 2017, 01:38:42 PM
"HOUSE BILL NO. 232
AN ACT TO AMEND TITLES 11 AND 29 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE LICENSING OF
INDIVIDUALS TO CARRY DEADLY WEAPONS CONCEALED."

Sponsored by Carson.

Looks like it seeks to create a Delaware Commission on Concealed Weapon Licensing. Application fees (new and renewal) will increase. AG might be relieved of some of the "increasingly unsustainable demands" to conduct background investigations and process applications. Scope of the Commission will extend not only permit applicants, but also to Instructors.

Will this improve the permit process in Delaware, or is it intended to place further obstacles in our path and generate revenue for the proposed Commission?

Application fees (new and renewal) will increase.
EXCEPT for retired police officers....

Commission will extend not only permit applicants, but also to Instructors.
My OPINION, the cost to those seeking a CCDW will go UP for the training.  They are
adding must have NRA PPOTH certification to train.  I think FEW of the current instructors
have it.  So there will be fewer instructors where you can go to get it.  There are other certs
they will allow instructors to have to be able to offer the class.

This session has closed.  Be ready for it for the next session.  Hopefully it will just die.

The thing I would like to see added to the Bill if it is passed is language like in the
Pittman-Robertson act.  Where funds collected CANNOT be diverted to other things.
