Title: Pennsylvania non resident permit references
Post by: Rkeo on January 09, 2018, 02:58:30 AM
Hi,
Does anyone know if the references needed for the PA non resident permit need to be from the county in which you are applying or not? Thanks in advance.

I just used two from my Delaware application.

Our two PA references live in Philly, and we get our permits in Lancaster, so... I'm thinking no.

No.  They can be anywhere.  As a matter of fact the references are not mandatory but most counties still have it on the application. There was a court case on this a few years back.  Just take two from your Delaware.

Forgive my senility, but I don't recall my PA non resid. CCDW permit requiring anything but my DE permit.  Or am I reading this wrong??

It's there question 29.  As others said, I used 2 from my Delaware.

Look at #2 on the instructions page.   :) I went to the Reading Airport
5 years ago for mine and will be back in 2018.

Does anyone know the time frame for a PA renewal?   Mrs Clarence and I will need to renew this summer.  What is the window or rather how early is too early?

The date that you renew is the new date on the new permit.  So, theoretically, you could renew immediately after getting one issued.  As such, I would plan on trying to get that date as close as possible to your current date.  Remember, though, that they no longer can guarantee same-day renewal.

Thank you everyone. I am heading up to Lackawanna county, Pa soon and thought I would give it a try. Even though I grew up there it was proofing difficult finding references there after not living there for the last 20+ years.

Let us know how you make out because Lackawanna County is listed as unknown on the Pennsylvania board as to whether or not they issue non-resident licenses.

Will do. I checked out a similar PA forum and they reported that they were able to get a non resident permit. However that was back in October 2016.

If you want to assure same day service, you could hit Berks County on the way up as they even announce same day service with successful PICS check.  They even have satilite offices.

First time and renewal were both at Delaware Co, Media.  First time I had to go back to pick up the lic(about 2 wks), second was instant, in and out is less than 20 min.

In and out in less than 30 minutes with permit in hand. There was a $20 fee for the permit.
