Title: IWB or OWB? Which do you prefer?
Post by: wbarrall74 on January 12, 2018, 04:48:34 PM
Hello gang..  I was just wondering how folks prefer to carry. Do you carry IWB or OWB and if outer do you open carry for use some type of cover up?

I use OWB and either wear another shirt on top that covers up my weapon or just untuck my shirt just so I can hide the weapon and not draw extra attention..

Stealth gear mini IWB for a P229c at 2:00. I found its the most comfortable way for me to conceal. I want to try an OWB for colder weather when I wear jacket or untucked shirt.

For me, mostly a Stealthgear IWB at 3 o'clock.. Occasionally a pocket pistol in a soft Nemesis or Sticky holster

Outside waist band with 1 firearm and shoulder rig for the other. I will switch to inside waist band in year 2024. That's when I lose enough weight to fit a holster inside. I always wear an over-shirt or jacket when carrying. Never open carry.

A companion question might be: Do you carry extra mags and, if so, how many and how?

OWB at 2:30. I have a leather galco that sits high. Very comfortable. Not used to carrying behind, as in past 3:00. Would like to hear from those who do. What makes it preferable? I recently got a pocket holster for a micro 380. Very comfortable in right front pocket. Will carry this in the summer more than likely.

That is a very good question I have been just putting a spare mag in my pocket.  Thinking about getting some of these  https://stealthgearusa.com/mag-carriers/gear-sg-180-3pack.html

For the price of that Stealthgear belt  you can buy 3 of these:

Answering three topics: IWB, belt, spare mags.
I carry IWB at 4 o’clock on a $60 leather belt from AGN Leather at NCC Farmers Market. The spare mag is in a mag pocket of 5.11 TacLite pants. Been wearing this belt for 15 months with no sign of wear or sag as opposed to a $20 Tractor Supply belt that developed a weak point after a year and never provided the same rigidity. I prefer IWB for profile and interference, i.e., closer to the body with less banging on door frames.

The Walmart belt I used for EDC is going on 10 years old. I paid $14.88. It is a 1 1/2" wide Brown solid cowhide belt.

The leather on mine is a little thicker than what they sell now. The double row of holes all the way around makes for a good place to clip on key rings and other things. I also have one of these in black, but not as good as my old one.
