Title: Where's the thread about short barrel ammo?
Post by: Obleo on February 03, 2018, 02:58:32 PM
Where's the thread about short barrel ammo?  I remember a thread about ammo designed for short barrel pistols but can't seem to find it.  It might have been years ago.  Does anyone have experience with those loads?  Is +P the same idea?

NO!!!  +P is in between a standard load and a magnum, but works in any gun designed to handle it.  When in doubt, look on the barrel of your gun.  If it does not say +P, DON'T!!!  My S&W 637 is rated for +P which is what I carry, but practice w/standard .38 loads.  Not a comfortable gun to shoot with hot loads.   IMHO, hot loads in a short barrel gun is a waste of money, since much of the load comes out as wasted energy/fire.  And it tears up the gun.
