Title: CCW License Numbering System
Post by: josephjanes on July 07, 2018, 03:09:29 PM
What is numbering system used for DE CCW License?  1st letter appears to be county (N, K, S), then year of issue (e.g. 18) then is it sequentially numbered i.e latest license # is total for that county only, or is it a state-wide total ? Any idea of # licenses by County, and state-wide total ? Thanks !!

I think you are correct about the County and year but I don't know if they are sequentially issued. Since the template of the license seems to be preprinted they could very well be sequential. As for total permits, the State doesn't publish any numbers but the last estimate I know of for Delaware is 4 or 5 years old. At that time they estimated the number of permit holders to be approximately 10,000 which isn't too bad for a small State.

I agree with the Letters indicating county, but having first received my CCW License in the early 1990's, I can tell you that my number has no significance to ANY year in the 1990's,

But I'd sure be interested in knowing more about that.

Like Wayne, I got mine in the 90's and agree that the number probably has no significance. Mine starts with an S and then has 3 digits.

Received mine in the mid nineties and like Bob and Wayne starts with an S followed by  3 digits.
