Title: JUST ORDERED V3 STINGRAY
Post by: SturmRugerSR9 on September 23, 2018, 06:15:34 PM
I just ordered a V# Stingray kydex holster from Clinger. Let you know how it works out. I've always been a leather holster guy but thought I'd give this a try. They have a 2 week return policy, a lifetime warranty, and it was on sale for $39.00 plus shipping. Suppose to be super comfortable. We'll see.

I ordered my V3 Stingray Sunday the 23rd. I received it today (UPS) at around 1:00PM. Not bad at all. So, of course I was quick to put it on for a try. The retention was a little tight so I backed it off a little. Put the holster on and it was comfortable as I wore it the rest of the after noon. Near supper time I was checking it out and noticed that when I holstered the pistol with the safety on as I always did, it was ok. But, when I would draw the pistol out, the safety was off. I tried this a few times and everytime safety on going in, safety off coming out. This to me is not right and is a safety hazzard. If I had not noticed this someone could have gotten shot.  I have for many years carried one in the chamber with safety on.

I have emailed Clinger this evening and await and answer.

Will let you know more later.

Thanks for the update , I also carry loaded with safety on . No need to have a holster taking the safety off unless your in a quick drawl competition .I was thinking about ordering one for p30sk but they only offered one that worked without manual safety . Maybe this is the reason  ???. Hopefully they can make it work for you . Keep us updated what you come up with .

I have since contacted Clinger Customer Service and they have contacted me twice on Saturday. They requested I take a picture of the gun and holster side-by-side and one of just the gun, which I did and also took close-ups of the gun showing detail of the safety  in both on and off positions. The problem seems to be when the mold was cast it was cast with the safety off, so when you holster your gun (mine is a Ruger SR9) with the safety on and then you draw the gun out, it flips the safety off. If you were not aware of it, you could accidently shoot someone or something. The last email I received this afternoon (Saturday) from them they said they were referring my case to the head holster design engineers on Monday and would keep me informed. So we'll see what happens next week. And, no I am not using this holster until this is resolved. I will have to rely on my 7-8 year old leather holster a while longer.

For the little while I wore the Clinger V3 Stingray, I really liked it. It, as they say, does an excellent job of concealment and can be used by lefties and righties both by switching the belt clip on the holster (extra hardware provided with holster). I hop they get this straighten out, because I really like the holster.

Well it sounds like they are willing to work with you . Maybe they need to remake the mold and start over.

Sounds like it to me. I suggest they cut out the area on each side of the holster that make contact with the safety.

Emailed C/S at Clinger today asking if they want me to return my V3 Stingray Holster for a refund, as it was no good to me as it is.
Waiting for response from C/S (Customer Service). We'll see what goes tomorrow.

Yes, and I got my redesigned/improved V3 Stingray Holster today. Popped the trusty old SR9 in and out of it about a dozen times and no problem. Works like a champ. What a great bunch of people they have at Clinger. I know they are a small company, but great customer service is what make a company grow. Thanks to everybody there.

Do I think Clinger is a great company to do business with? And, do I recommend them to others? @@@@ RIGHT!

Well, I've been using my VE Stingray now for about a year and although I use to be a leather holster guy, I never go anywhere without my Kydex V3 Stingray by Clinger Holsters now. In fact I have 2 of them.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question and I know this has been discussed a lot, but there are always new innovations by manufacturers.

I am looking for the smallest IWB holster I can find for LCP (and if I like it another one for my P365XL).  I have an Uncle Mikes but have had it for some time and the metal clip is sprung out a little.  Looking for something with a more substantial hold and something that is convertible for right hand or left hand.  This is because I have not settled on best position and sometimes I put it in small of the back, which would require left hand orientation.

I commend you if you've had the patience to read my rambling comments.  Any input is appreciated.  Also I have one of the grippy cloth holsters that you stick in your waistband. I have had this fall out before.

Have you looked at the DeSantis Sof-Tuck? I've got one at home in my holster drawer. I'll try to get a photo of it with an LC9. I don't believe it converts from RH to LH, so keep that in mind.

The V# Stingray easily converts from left to right by moving the clip (Held on by 2 screws) from the left to right side of the holster. Makes it easy to use at almost any position, including cross-draw.
I've been using mine for several years now and have no need for anything else. Very reasonable pricing also.
