Title: NATIONAL CONCEALED CARRY RECIPROCITY REINTRODUCED BY REP. HUDSON
Post by: SturmRugerSR9 on January 04, 2019, 11:56:49 AM
Rep. Hudson has reintroduced a National Concealed Carry Reciprocity bill again on the 1st day of the 116th Congress:

I'm pretty sure this may be the only time you hear about it as Pelosi will probable have him tarred, feathered, and quartered.

I just don't understand the Repub's, or politicians in general.  They had control and did the same thing the dems did in 08-10, nothing.  They could have passed anything they wanted, as they did w/Obamacare, and the Repub's have fought Trump since day one.  Now they have no choice, nothing will get thru House now.

Sorry, to many thoughts in one small paragraph.  I just hope the R's don't cave any further.

I place the blame at the feet of Chuck Grassley and Mitch McConnell. I laid in the Grassley's Senate Judiciary Committee for almost a year and The Gatekeeper to the Senate floor, McConnell would not bring it to the floor for a full Senate vote. Hence, it died. All the while President Trump said over and over that if they got it to his desk, he would sign it into law.

Now you tell me, who's fault was it that it failed? I don't see anything good happening in the next 2 years, if at all.

Bedside watch available below. The new chairman of the House Judiciary Committee (https://www.congress.gov/committee/house-judiciary/hsju00) is the Honorable Jerrold Nadler (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerrold_Nadler) (D-NY10).  Odds that a Manhattan liberal will bury this bill: 99.999999%

H.R.38 - To amend title 18, United States Code, to provide a means by which nonresidents of a State whose residents may carry concealed firearms may also do so in the State. (https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/38?q=%7B%22search%22%3A%5B%22Concealed%22%5D%7D&r=1&s=2)

Bill wasn't passed, it was introduced, by Rep Richard Hudson (R) of North Carolina, with 90 co-sponsors.

That's the good news. The bad news is it will be sent to the House Judiciary Committee headed now by Rep. Nadler (D) of New York and he is extremely anti-gun.

NRA tweet today.
On behalf of our more than 5 million members across the country, @NRAILA today applauded the introduction of S. 69, The Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2019, sponsored by Senator @JohnCornyn.

Rep. Hudson, and Sen. Cornyn are the 2 that have introduced such bills in the last couple of sessions. Better luck this time but I will be shocked if they go anywhere.

Senator John Cornyn (R) of Texas, introduced the Senate version of the National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act yesterday. It is the Senate version (S. 69) of House bill (HR. 38) introduced by Rep. Richard Hudson (R) of Texas.

S. 69 is the Senate Bill by John Cornyn (R) of Texas:

As much as I would like to have national reciprocity, the second clause of S.69  (https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/senate-bill/69?q=%7B%22search%22%3A%5B%22S.69%22%5D%7D&s=1&r=1) which allows the Constitutional Carry State residents to carry nationally worries me.
How many of them will wander into a state like NJ, NY, or MD and run afoul of severely restritive laws such as mag limits, hollow points, and non-approved handguns? Even permitted CCers make mistakes.
IMHO, a recipe for backlash from the anti-2A faction. “Look at these macho idiots who just want to swagger around everywhere with a gun”!
Hopefully, that second clause with get traded away in the bill passage debate and only permitted CCers will get national reciprocity.  Even then I’ll ”be making a list and checking it twice”.

I don't think in this current atmosphere of Democrat House control and Republican Senate control, anything will come of S 69 or HR 38 either on. We need a Republican majority in both houses and strong pro 2nd Amendment leaders in both houses to get anything done. I see this as next to impossible. The best chance we has was a year or so ago when Paul Ryan let the house bill through and then Mitch McConnell blocked the Senate version from coming to the floor, and that ended that. Bad enough we have to fight the Dems., But we have to fight the Repubs too.

Well, it seems as though these bills (S.69 and HB 38) are doomed to set and set and die in the Judiciary committee and House Subcommittee on terrorist, for ever. I could expect the Dems to poop on this bill with their House majority, but there is no excuse for the Senate Judiciary Committee led by Sen. Lindsey Graham to sit on that bill with a Senate and Committee Republican Majority both.
There are somewhere near or over 17 million Concealed carry permit holders in the US, and the do nothing.
My friends, it is that this many people have absolutely no power to get anything done, considering the power of the NRA and other pro-gun groups and a President who is also a concealed carry permit holder, who said he would absolutely sign the National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act into law as soon as it hit his desk.
And, all the members of the House and Senate are doing is squabbling  about  PHONY HOAX WITCH HUNTS.

There is some talk about the Repubs. bringing up concealed carry reciprocity as part of the on gun law reforms that need to be looked at. It may be used as a bargaining chip.

Hope not.  Like what?   Ban semi autos so that I can carry in Times Square?  No thanks.   We need nationwide carry but not at the expense of our rights.  Our rights are not bargaining chips.

Never happen, and the dems don't really need their votes.

Don't look now, but your rights have been used as bargaining chips for a hundred years. Wake up and smell the roses.
