Title: New member from Lewes
Post by: GlockLady on March 20, 2019, 02:09:50 AM
Hello.  I'm a new member.  I have a Delaware CCDW and I also recently received my MD Wear and Carry.  I'm an NRA, DSSA and Bridgeville Rifle and Pistol Club member and enjoy shooting IDPA matches.

MD., who issues few permits, does not issue non-resident permits at all, and does not recognize any other states permit.

MD.... does not issue non-resident permits at all

You will find Maryland's "Wear & Carry" application here:
https://mdsp.maryland.gov/Organization/Pages/CriminalInvestigationBureau/LicensingDivision/Firearms/WearandCarryPermit.aspx

The form does indicate there are provisions for out-of-state applicants:

Quote
Out of state residents applying for a Handgun Permit must submit electronic fingerprints from a Maryland State Police approved electronic fingerprint processing center.

and also:

Quote
Out of State Registration for Security Systems...
Fees Required:
Out-of-State Registration - $15.00 (does not include background check fee)

and in the "Applicant Information" section, the drop-down for the Applicant's state of residence does allow for the selection of the state of DE (among others).

Now, with that said, I will recognize that although the state may accept applications from out-of-state residents, I would expect the issue rate for such to be nearly zero. Regardless, there must surely be some armed security guard, or armored vehicle driver, who works primarily in Maryland, but lives in DE or PA. No?

Oh, and a cheerful "Hello" to our new member, GlockLady. :)

Filling out a application is not getting a permit. Don't care what the URL says, nobody gets a permit, and they don't accept any other states permit. I have a longtime friend that is a retired MD. State Trooper, and he as well as most MD police are of the schooling that NO civilian needs a gun at all. He doesn't like it that I carry concealed when they come to visit us in DE.
Sorry bout that.
