SEAFORD, Del.- Delaware State Police say a man was shot in the back during a fight in a convenience store parking lot just south of Seaford.

According to police, the shooting happened shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday in the Royal Farms parking lot on Sussex Highway (U.S. Route 13) as patrons were leaving a nearby bar.

Police said the victim, identified only as a 24-year-old Laurel man, was involved in one of several fights occurring in the store parking lot when he was shot in the back. The bullet exited through his abdomen. He was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He was last listed in stable condition.

Troopers do not have yet have any suspects in the shooting and are asking the public's help in their investigation.
