D.C. Gun laws
« on: March 12, 2012, 07:04:20 PM »
Don't know how many of you were following Emily Millers's blog. She is Senior editor for the opinion page of the Washinton Times. She documented her efforts to get a pistol for home defense (Sig...nice choice). Amazing reading about the hurdles D.C. put in place. You can read here: http://p.washingtontimes.com/blog/guns/

She succeeded in changing some laws there, from her articles and testifying to city council. Recently read this comment:
"On Friday, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland ruled that the Free State’s restrictive concealed carry laws violated the Second Amendment. Judge Benson Everett Legg concluded, “A citizen may not be required to offer a good and substantial reason why he should be permitted to exercise his rights. The right’s existence is all the reason he needs.”

Note that Emily's frustrations just came from trying to purchase a gun. She wasn't trying to get a CCDW.

Funny how Delaware is going in the opposite direction, where applicants are now saying that "to protect myself and property" is no longer specific enough.
