10/22
« on: May 20, 2012, 10:02:31 PM »
I got to shoot my 10/22 this weekend, what a blast! I shot over 400 rounds, one failure to feed on the second magazine, which I believe it was a weak round that didn't cycle far enough to eject and load a new one, flawless after that.

This is my second attempt with .22s, first one was a conversion kit for my AR15 which I didn't like. This one is a keeper.

Well, congrats on the 10/22. They're a great rifle and can be set up to do just about anything you can imagine a small bore doing, from plinking, to hunting or very serious target shooting. Warning.... once bitten by the 10/22, it can be a costly affair with all the cool barrels, stocks and slick trigger mechanisms to be had for them. This condition however isn't fatal to anything except one's wallet!  Enjoy!

I purchased my 10/22 around 1983 for about $100 and it may be the best purchase I ever made.  Mostly because I still have it and hope to never part with it.  Recently, I added a 3rd party pistol grip stock with rails and serious sights, including a red dot.  This is an awesome, inexpensive date if there ever was one.  I recall very few misfires.  If you let it get real good and grimy with cheap oil and dirty ammo it will tend to mess up.  Otherwise this is a favorite of everyone in the family.  The Butler Creek 25 round mags have worked very well and hope to get the Ruger 25 rounders as well.

Capnball is right.  I put about $300 more into it with the sights, extra mags, bipod, foregrip and all.

The only accessories I bought were the Ruger 25 rounds magazine and a cheap optics. I don't foresee spending anymore money on it besides ammo, I like just the way it is right now. Really nice gun!
