Just received this email:

We have found the .22LR ammo...

I found .22 at Walmart today. I haven't seen this much .22 on the Walmart shelf in over six years. They had shorts, shotshell, and more LR than I would comfortably carry. Remington Thunderbolt, Remington GB, CCI Standard, Winchester Super-X, Federal AutoMatch, and probably one or two others I forgot. Dozens of boxes of each.

The Federal is selling for $14.84 per 325 (4.6 cents each). I think the CCI was in 50 round boxes, $3.47 a box (6.9 cents). The Super-X was the most expensive, at over $8 ($8.97 maybe?) for a box of 100.

Any idea where I can find some .223 ammo?  Just order a Ruger Mini-14.

Chris @ Federal Firearms?

Once I finish the remaining 45(s) I have to load I may switch over to 223.

The pain with .223 is the full length resize lube and wipedown.  Found that a case gauge check was necessary to detect case bulge from a too tight crimp.  Do you have a different method?

no 223 is not hard to do but a PITA.  no same process.
trimming is EASY but $$$$$  https://www.giraudtool.com/giraud-power-trimmer.html

I have a 550B 4 stage press.  I will lube, resize, and wipe down what I need.  Then load up the press with primers & powder.
From there use stage 1 only to prime, others as usual.

I have for .45 a case gauge which will accept 100 rds.  If I loaded more 223, would love one there too. Now it's 1 at a time.

I maintain what I feel is a sufficient supply (1000 rounds of each) of ammo for all my firearms. I replace on a monthly basis is I use the ammo. Therefore any pandemic or other situation that should arise, I feel I am prepared.
