The answer is in this forum. Click on Delaware concealed carry permit process, then click on peermit remewal process. The Prothonataryies Offices says the renewals will be done by May 31st, iregardless of when they are sent it.
I believe i read on this sight , but can't remember where , that if your renewal is in progress before your permit expires you are covered. I will research and get back to you all.

Found it. Took a while but here is the section of delaware Code that applies I believe. This is a copy and paste from the Delaware Code:

                                                       *********************

Section 6. Amend §1442, Title 11 of the Delaware Code by adding thereto a new paragraph at the end of the section to read as follows:

“It shall be a defense that the defendant has been issued an otherwise valid license to carry a concealed deadly weapon pursuant to terms of § 1441 of this title, where (1) the license has expired, (2) the person had applied for renewal of said license within the allotted time frame prior to expiration of the license, and (3) the offense is alleged to have occurred while the application for renewal of said license was pending before the Court.”.

Approved June 29, 2010

                                                ****************
A word to the wise. I would keep a copy of the submitted notorized renewal application and maybe a copy of this section of the Delaware Code on me while waiting for renewal. It could be a real handy this if you get questioned by the Police. Some times the police don't know all the laws.

That IS why I took 3 copies with me (original plus 2).  Gave then the original and a copy.  Asked the lady to time stamp my copy AND receipt.

Just called Dale Broome (female) and listened to a recording.  It said if you are checking the status of your CCDW...
If it is a new app, please wait 3 months before checking.  If it is a renewal that expires this year, wait until May before checking.

Gotta love the gooberment.....  One good thing though, Easter is early this year.  The kids will be off school and can laminate them sooner.

Well, I turned in my renewal, in Sussex County, back during the first week of January.  I haven't seen it yet.  Though, they have deposited my check, so maybe I'll see it soon
