TK.. any place around that does the type III hard coat anodizing for those DIYers? :)

I'm sure I could manage type II myself but would prefer a type III finish.

I know someone that does Teflon coating in black and several other colors if you really want to do something different.

I think I'll pass on the nickle but thanks :)

Cap.. I read a bit on Teflon and I don't think its what I'm looking for. It does add a nice smooth, non-stick surface layer (cooking commercial here lol) but its still just a layer that can be removed, easily scratched or ruined with chemicals. With type III anodizing its in the surface of the metal and much more durable.

Nice article in this weeks (8/20) "Shotgun News" on Cerakote finishing. The guy in the article is finishing a I. O. Inc AK-47 Sporter Econ.

Understood Adrenolin, I actually considered doing the Teflon on one of my long-rifles in dark-earth brown but thought better of it for the reasons you mention and because I just couldn't bring myself to violate tradition that much by using a 21st century finish on a traditional rifle. If however you would like to have something rust-browned the old way, I know someone who just built another browning box.
