Has anyone asked the Director?
« on: August 10, 2014, 08:55:39 PM »
Guidelines for Delaware State parks:

It shall be unlawful to display, possess or discharge firearms of any description, air rifles, B.B. guns, sling shots or archery equipment upon any lands or waters administered by the Division, except by those persons lawfully hunting in those areas specifically designated for hunting by the Division, or except with prior written approval of the Director.

Has anyone asked for written approval?  If so, what happened?

I've sent a request and received back a denial. They do NOT give approval! IMO by denying everyone but having that as a Rule they are in some violation and a court could overturn their rule but well.. Fat chance. There was a thread here about one of our members in touch with a lawyer regarding this and a possible class action but its hasn't moved much.

Perhaps everyone should start sending letters then turn the denial letters into the lawyer. :)

The thread for talking to a lawyer is here http://deccw.com/index.php?topic=3338.0
It contains links to the regulations.

I plan to send a request.  I'll  share the text on this forum as well as the response.

Perhaps, if he denies your request, he will provide assurances that you will be safe and protected in the State parks.  You think?

I was recently at Triple R state park just south of Indian River Bridge Outlet.  It took over an hour for someone to respond to a teenager with a fish hook in her foot.

When seconds count....

A man was bitten by a rabid fox in Brandywine park this week.

Besides the risk of being attacked by 2 legged preditors, my question is why
Would not our constitutional rights not apply in a state park?

Did not the state Supreme Court this past spring unanimously affirm that carrying a firearm is a fundemental right?

The time to fight this is now!
