My wife has an LC9 which she use as a carry pistol sometimes.
The main issue we have with this pistol is the very long trigger pull. It seem like it takes forever to pull the trigger far enough to fire.
With that said, we replaced the trigger assembly with a RTK http://www.rtktriggers.com/ replacement trigger assembly it turned into a very nice easyto shoot pistol.

I would recommend this pistol only if the RTK trigger is installed.

IF that fixes the trigger issue and you have a small hand, it would work for you.

The LC9s is slightly smaller and lighter then a M&P Shield  ::)
I really like the Shield  ;D
I'm looking to replace my Kel Tec P11 but can't justify spending the money  :'(
I'd really like something small like the Bodyguard but don't care for a 380  ;)

I carry the Shield and very pleased with it. Right size for my hand and easy to shoot, maintain, and as accurate as any other small carry pistol.

Oh, one more thing, I replaced sights with Trillium sights. A  very nice addition to a fine firearm.

I noticed the XD's dropped a little in price I guess because the XD Mod2 is out ?
The XD is a fraction heavier but don't think the difference is noticeable
