is proud to announce a special class....

The Utah Concealed Firearm Permit class!

Class Date: Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 10am - 4pm

Seating is limited to 75 for this class. If the Saturday 8/22 date fills up quickly, a Sunday 8/23 class may be added.

Class Location: Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore, 11518 Marriottsville Road
Marriottsville, Maryland 21104-1220

A Utah non-resident concealed firearm permit is one of the most widely recognized carry permits in the United States. This 6 hour class meets the Utah requirement to apply for this highly sought after permit. This class is classroom lecture only and there is no shooting requirement or range time required to obtain this permit. The only way to apply for the Utah permit is by taking this class, taught by a Utah certified instructor. Utah does not accept any other form of training towards applying for the permit.

The cost of the class is $79.95. A student manual will be provided. Proactive Shooters will also supply the necessary fingerprint card (prints must be obtained elsewhere).

You must register and pay in advance to reserve a seat in this class. Registration can be conducted online by visiting our website link -

http://proactiveshooters.com/proactiveshooters/register-utah-concealed-firearm-permit-class-marriottsville-md/

You may also visit our website at www.ProactiveShooters.com to register there.

When you complete this online registration form, click "SUBMIT". You will then be redirected to a payment screen where you may pay with a credit/debit card. Credit card payments are processed through Paypal. You may use your Paypal account or simply choose the option to make a one time credit card payment without signing into Paypal.

If you wish to pay in another manner, you must mail check or money order for $79.95 to:

Proactive Shooters
9702 Gayton Road, Suite 185
Richmond, Va. 23238

As of right now, we are going to use August 1, 2009 as a tentative cut off date for registrations and payments. All payments must be received by this date.

I am not sure why they would offer this class in Maryland when Maryland does not recognize Utah permits.  Maybe they are hoping to lure in out-of-staters. I am not sure how this would work. As I understand it, Delaware accepts Utah permits. Can you get a non-resident Utah permit to ccw as a Delaware resident in Delaware?

Hawkeye, You can not use an out of state permit as a resident of Delaware to carry in Delaware. I can see a few reasons to offer the class in MD. If you live in MD and work in another state ie:DE, also MD is close to a few other states so it may be centralized. Utah does give you quite a few other states that you can carry in.

I don't see the point unless you are traveling.

That would be my reason to get the permit but again I know some people who live in MD and work in DE so that would be their reason to get the permit.

We offer this class in Maryland because Marylanders are very happy to be able to obtain any permit. Many Marylanders travel through other states and would like to be able to carry. Its one of our more popular classes. In fact, we often have folks from Delaware come to Maryland to take the class.

Ive never understood some of the people that feel the need to "collect" permits. Does Maryland recognize the Utah permit?

I'm not a permit collector but I have 4. I often travel to teach classes and for me personally, I just like to have a permit from the state I'm in. Its alot easier to hand a police officer a permit from that state than to sit on the side of the road for 20 minutes while he verifies that your out of state permit is valid there.

Maryland does not currently accept a Utah permit to carry in Maryland.

Hey pro I didn't mean that you collect them, you teach the classes so it only makes sense for you to have them. I know a guy that has about 6 different states permits but the last time he left the state was to turn in his PA application in media. Those are the people I don't understand.

The sad part is that extremely easy for us to get permits to carry in 30+ states, but we still can't cross the state line while going east, west, or south.
Very few guns are actually "illegal guns."  A gun misappropriated by a criminal is no more of an "illegal gun" than a stolen car is an "illegal car."
