"tight" security at the Elsmere fireworks
« on: July 04, 2015, 01:00:09 AM »
My wife and I took our nephew and my mother-in-law to the Elsmere 4th of July celebration this evening. I was carrying my Glock 29 IWB, and my wife had her S&W 340PD in her purse.
There were no signs indicating that firearms were prohibited.
There were two police officers at the entrance. I nodded to them, and they ignored me. My wife kept a tight grip on our 11-year-old nephew, and they let her pass... and then they searched my mother-in-law's purse. ???

I don't know about you folks, but I feel safer...  ::)

My question would be if you were about to be "wanded", would you just tell the policeman that you have a CCW license or show it to them?  They would not have any reason to search you at that point.

I think I would tell them before they found it. It never comes up: I seem to give off a "harmless" vibe.
Probably because I am harmless, although that doesn't mean defenseless...

Isis had issued a threat a couple weeks ago for July 4 throughout the country.

We went to the Middletown fireworks wi our neighbors. Parked near the Silverlake school in behind the Acme. Awesome place for viewing the fireworks, tons of people playing soccer on the field and lots of place the kids could run around and play with dozens of glow sticks around their heads, arms and legs. Had a great time and saw zero LEOs anywhere.

We made it home safely after a great 4th of July evening.

I wouldn't relax too much just yet, as that might be what they are looking for. Some large July 4th activities are still planned for the 5th of July. Like the NASCAR Race in Daytona, and other sporting events. Hope I'm wrong.

We should never relax with what is going on in the world. We are going to get hit when and where is the question.
