Gun Free Zone Accountability - Interesting
« on: June 29, 2016, 07:50:36 PM »
It seems like Tennessee has the right idea. Holding gun free zone proprietors accountable.

Quote
As of July 1, if a handgun carry permit holder in Tennessee is injured, suffers bodily injury or death, incurs economic loss or expense, property damage or any other compensable loss on a property posted as a gun-free zone, they can sue the person or entity who stripped them of their right to self defense.

Sweet!

Gun Free Zones have the force of law in TN. http://handgunlaw.us/states/tennessee.pdf
Maybe DASAL and DSSA can get a similar law for DE State Parks and State Forests
Just a smelly deplorable dreg of society clinging to God and guns.

Love this provision of the law:

(b) Any person or entity authorized to post property pursuant to § 39-17-1359 who elects, pursuant to that
authority, to prohibit the possession of firearms by a person authorized to carry a handgun pursuant to § 39-
17-1351, thereby assumes absolute custodial responsibility for the safety and defense of the permit holder
while on the posted property and while on any property the permit holder is required to traverse in order to
travel to and from the location where the permit holder's firearm is stored.

I'll bet that this results in many insurance companies telling property owners to allow permit holders to carry.
An incident such as what happened on Orlando would potentially result in hundreds of millions of dollars in liability.

Let's keep this in mind if our local lawmakers continue with their push for gun free zones.
Here’s the real issue: when your religion is government, and government is god, you cannot tolerate any other God before it

This is excellent!   I read the law and one nice part is that if the entity continues to have such signs, they must now post wording that acknowledges their responsibility for the safety of the disarmed carrier.

I doubt many more signs will be left.

It also absolves the business from any liability from failure to post a sign.  Such as if a carrier were to miss and shoot a bystander.

Very important to remember that signs in Tennessee do carry force of law.

"Gun free zones" in Delaware, such as the Dover Mall, some eating establishments,  do not carry the weight of the law either. They can ask you to leave, or even escort you out, but you cannot be arrested, unless you refuse to leave, which then would be trespassing.
It would be great if some gutsy legislative Rep. in Delaware would draft such a law. Bet you'd see those signs disappear.
