PA non-resident ccw permit....DELAYED
« on: July 06, 2016, 07:00:31 PM »
I went to Lancaster today for PA non-resident permit and my background check got delayed. Has anybody heard of this before? I shouldn't be surprised, it happens every time I buy a gun.

Do you know why you get delayed?

PICS is used in PA just like NICS in the rest of the country.  They check NICS as part of the BG check so if you are delayed in NICS you will also have the same problem in PA

Might be someone with a similar name. Or maybe an old charge that was dismissed or whatever.  If you are eventually cleared in NICS then you should be in PICS as well.

Good luck and tell us how it goes.

There are a few things in PA that will get you denied even though you can buy a gun such as ANY type of drug charge no matter how minor.

No drug charges or any other charges. NICS always clears me after a delay. Hopefully the same for the PA background check. Something is red flagging me, I just don't know what.

You will be fine.  There is a form you can fill out with NICS to have this set up so that the issue will not delay you.

UPDATE: Less than 24 hours I get a call from Lancaster Sheriff's Department saying I'm APPROVED.

I also got delayed in PA last spring and I get delayed everytime I purchase a gun too.  I filed an appeal (VAF) with the FBI, and after a couple of months received a letter stating they are processing appeals from July of 2015 right now, and that "please note you weren't denied but merely delayed."   I never did find out why I am delayed tho.

I get delayed for just about every purchase as well. It was just annoying, but with Delaware's new BS it could get to be a bite in the @@@. Chris, at Federal Firearms gave me the forms to fill out after my last delay to get a UPIN, but I haven't gotten around to doing so. I suppose I ought to get it done, since it appears that, surprise, surpise, the FEds are was behind in processing these things.
