Pistol purchase by out of state resident - Legal?
« on: August 10, 2016, 12:55:44 AM »
I am an out of state resident that owns a small property in Sussex County (Millsboro).

Can I purchase a pistol in state if I am not a resident (property is more of a vacation spot) or would I have to make purchase and have it shipped to my FFL within home state?

Thanks

Yes. You may purchase as long as it is shipped to an FFL in your home state.

Long guns may be purchased over the counter as long as your home state permits this

I bought both of my firearms in Delaware while I was a PA resident. I could not leave the DE store with them, rather they were shipped to Targetmaster in PA where I picked them up 2 days later. I paid a small fee to targetmaster for the transfer ($30 or 40 - can't remember exactly). It seemed to me that they do these transactions every day so it was no big deal. The one hassle was that it was considered two separate transactions so I had to complete the paperwork and background check twice - once at the store in DE and again at the store  in PA.
