Lucky gunner has a great chart showing test results for various brands.

Here's my question, i'm guessing they are using ballistic gel to test the depth. With a round that has a longer depth, will that have a better chance of passing right through the body. Wouldn't you want something that is gonna stay in and tear sh*t up. I see some of these hollow points have plastic in the tip to keep it from clogging once it enters the body. But i would think you want the tip to break up in order to do more damage. Can someone please explain to me if i'm wrong on my thinking

I carry 9MM hollow points. I only use round nose for target shooting. It was believed long ago that using round nose ment you were more likely (in a self defense situation) to have a "thru and thru" shot that does not kill the target person, but allows them to keep firing at you, causing you possible injury or death yourself.
I use several different brands. My SR9 isn't choosie, will shoot most any kind.

Any Comments on this?

My EDC is a Beretta Nano 9mm single stack. 6 in the mag 1 in the tube. My preferred ammo is Hornady 147 gr XTP HP and DRT fragmenting 85 gr HP. I alternate the Hornady with the DRT. I purchase a 25 pack per year each and I run the ammo through my Nano 2 to 3 times per year. Just to make sure it works ok.

Different manufacturers generally offer the same thing, for the most part.  For defense, you are usually talking less than 15' from your target, so you want a bullet that will knock the subject down,(heavy bullet), and one that won't go thru with the potential for bad effects on the other side.  So a frangible or heavy spreading hollow point.  And it must work in your gun, which is the most important.  Not all guns will feed all ammo, test it.  For best results, practice with what you carry.  Don't practice with light target loads and then get surprised by the power of that defense load.  It may be expensive, if you don't reload, but there will be no surprises to you,  if the time comes.

I'm with you Bill. I tried my carry ammo at the range and it worked. It fed the ammo and ejected it so I was happy. I'm sure it will perform. That is the most important thing.
