The house judiciary committee meeting regarding HB366 is scheduled for this Wednesday (4/25/2018)

While this bill is nowhere nearly as objectionable as the others, but it would be in our best interest to have a few people there.

I don’t interpret the bill as prohibiting a loaded firearm in a locked nightstand safe accessible by keypad.
Just a smelly deplorable dreg of society clinging to God and guns.

Yes.   That is the mental health gun bill.  If it keeps truly dangerously people from having access to weapons
like the Waffle House monster, then I say good.  We will have to keep a close eye on this.

According to the text of the bill a person is only guilty if the gun is loaded. You could leave empty guns and loaded magazines strewn all around the house and not be in violation.

Under the revised statute, a crime is committed when a person intentionally or recklessly stores or leaves a loaded firearm where a minor or other person prohibited by law, or “unauthorized person,” can access the firearm, and the unauthorized person obtains the firearm.

If I read correctly, a defense is if the firearm is obtained by "unlawful entry".  I take this to mean if someone takes a loaded firearm from a table after breaking into your house then you are innocent of a crime.

I have very few unloaded guns, and the chances of anyone getting out with one are slim.  Wife is also a good shot.  No kids and a mean attack basset.
