1911 RANGE OFFICER® CHAMPION™ 9MM
« on: August 30, 2019, 02:56:43 AM »
Just Bought this 1911 9mm -its like WOW - This is my first 1911 and i am really impressed with this 4 inch , take down was pretty easy and for me a little tricky getting the Slide Stop pin back in  -but after reading and slow and steady wins the race =i got it down  ,Very very accurate little sucker- this will now be my new Carry as its really not much more heavier or bigger than my Glock 19 - Warning -Do Not Try this firearm as your pockets will be 770.00 $  lighter  ,

I love 1911's.  I have built or repaired 3 for myself and worked on many more.  I have a Browning HiPower, which had the same designer, but always wanted to build a 9MM 1911.  Who is the maker??  All steel or steel slide plastic frame??

If the frame is true to 1911 specs, any grips for a 1911 should fit.  I am partial to hogue grips which can be one piece, but fancy woods are also nice.  I tried Hogue one piece grip on my Sig P220(retired LEO gun) and did not like them.  Switched back(for now) the police hard grips that came on it.  Grips are a personal thing and can make or break your proper hold.

John Browning certainly got this design right and over 100 years later it still holds up. I've had a colt commander (.45 ACP)  for almost 30 years. It bites a bit, but one of the most accurate handguns I own.

I really dislike plastic guns!!  The feel of a 1911 says shoot me, it won't hurt you.  But yes, they are a bit harder for CC use, big, heavy, bulky.  I know Todd loves his plastic .45's.  But I usually carry my little Smith 637, .38+P.  The 1911 may get to ride in my truck.

...  I know Todd loves his plastic .45's.  ...

Trade off a little weight in the frame for more rounds.  Carry 15+1 of .45

...  they are a bit harder for CC use, big, heavy, bulky.  ...

The public is CLUELESS.  Heads stuck in their phones (and other places).

As much as I appreciate the engineering of polymer framed guns, over the summer I traded one for a CZ 2075 RAMI for concealed carry. All metal and an absolute pleasure to shoot.

Sometimes i use it for carry. They had another version out called the EMP. Saw one recently at cabela's about 8 months ago. This was sweet, i was so tempted to buy it but they wanted a little over 1,000 for it. If i ever see another i'll get it. It's the one i let get away. But yeah, i love this thing. I also thought about replacing the grips because i'm left handed and it has that divit on the left side for a right hand thumb. I would like to find some grips for it but never knew of some place to get the right size or right model grips.

Hi ,Full size 1911 grips fit Mil-Spec Government and Commander models while compact grips fit Officer models. If you're not sure which model you have you can measure the distance between the screw holes. On a full size 1911 the holes will be 3 1/16" (78mm) apart from center to center. On a compact they will be 2 ⅝" (67mm) apart. For Non-1911 grips check the FAQ on the product page for that grip. This is from Vz grip - Bill from here advised me as mine being full size and was right ,  https://vzgrips.com/faq/
