Help with the Fight
« on: May 24, 2020, 12:39:23 AM »
Mitch Denham posted this on the Delaware Gun rights facebook group.  We all need to help with the fight against the anti-gunners as much as we can.  Sig up to help with the fight.

Governor Carney wants a 10 round magazine ban and he will have the magazine ban introduced in the next legislative session. The only way we can stop him is to elect pro 2nd amendment legislators. Volunteer with DSSA to elect responsible legislators. Click https://dssa.us/volunteer/ and sign up today. No donations. Just your support. It’s worth for than money to a politician.

Suppose you have a pistol/gun that holds more than 10 rounds. And there is no magazine available to replace your factory made magazine. Then, does it become illegal to own the gun, if this legislation is passed?

I believe this legislation would be unconstitutional being as it would impede the firearm owner and that is against the 2nd Amendment.

What say you?

15 and 17 round pistol mags and 20 and 30 round rifle are STANDARD sizes for those guns and in wide use throughout the US.  These mags are an integral part of the guns they came with and should be treated as the whole gun.  SCOTUS has ruled, in Heller, as summarized by Justice Scalia, that 1. The right to keep and bear arms is a preexisting right that was confirmed and not granted by the Second Amendment, 2. The Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms "conferred an individual right to keep and bear arms", 3. The phrase, "keep and bear arms", applies to any lawful use and possession including matters such as self-defense, hunting and recreational uses, and 4. "handguns and longarms that were commonly owned by the people across the nation are within the scope of the term “arms” and thus constitutionally protected to civilian ownership."

This is a very good article on the Second Amendment published by The Tennessee Star:

This article by The Legal Information Institute is highly detailed with history of the Second Amendment and shows why I can't be a lawyer.

One of the biggest problems with the lack of respect for the US Constitution is that Civics is hardly taught in schools and college anymore, and if it is it's by Liberal Socialist teachers and professors. They are not pro-constitution, they are anti-constitution. So how do you expect young minds to be positively influenced and learned about the US Constitution?
