Justice Ginsburg has passed away at 87
« on: September 18, 2020, 11:59:53 PM »
On the news now.  Justice Ginsburg has passed away at the age of 87.  I wish her family well but now the election has taken on an additional matter of importance for President Trump to win.  Senator McConnell has stated he would pass a new justice for the Supreme Court before the election.

A full Supreme Court will be needed to give the final determination of the election, without doubt.  But too many with the "R" still don't like Trump.  And too many Republicans still don't have a spine.

Pretty sure the 45 Demorats will vote no to confirming Trumps nominee. There are 2 Independents that caucus with the Demorats. There are 3 questionable(Murkowski, Collins, Romney) Republicans that will likely be turncoats. if so that will be a 50-50 tie and VP Mike Pence will be the tie breaker voting yes, making it 51-50 in favor of Republicans.

We will have to wait and see what the Demorats come up with the delay, distract, and confuse the process. And, I'm sure they will try anything.

One additional wrinkle: if Mark Kelly (big-time gun control advocate and husband of Gabby Giffords) is elected in AZ, he could be sworn in Nov 30, replacing Martha McSally who was appointed to fill the remainder of John McCain’s term.  Flips one seat to D from R.

And yes, Ol’ Nan will use “every arrow in the quiver” which possibly includes another run at impeachment of the President.

An article on Fox News that quotes Ginsburg and other Democrats in 2016.  https://www.foxnews.com/politics/flashback-in-2016-ginsburg-senate-election-year-vacancy  It was alright in 2016 for Obama to make a nomination close to an election.
