Renewals-new photos required ?
« on: March 05, 2021, 12:42:04 PM »
Just curious if I need to submit new passport style photos.

Also, do I need to provide a reason for the renewal?  It’s asking why I want a CCW, but obviously I already completed that section in the initial application

Hoping the renewal doesn’t need to be notarized ...

Thanks

You will be required to submit two new passport type photos. Be sure the photos are recent, and remember to write your name on the back of each photo. I used a local Walgreens to get the passport photos.

My reason for application included the following phrases:
  • Full age
  • Good moral character
  • Application for renewal
  • Purpose of personal protection
My last renewal was two years ago. Hope this is helpful.

The application does need to be notarized. If you submit the application in person, the clerk at the desk of the prothonotary's office will be able to notarize it for you.

I took my photos with my cell phone, downloaded them to my PC and printed 2 copies to fit required size listed.

As far as Notary, it is a legal document and if it requires a signature it has to be signed in front of a Notary. If you take it to the Prothonatary's office they will notarize it when you sign it and turn it in.

We also printed out 2”x2”  pictures ( two each) from our cell phone camera.

Make sure background is white or slightly off white.

Print your name lightly in pencil on back of both photos.

You really don’t need a reason for renewal except “self defense”   Law on renewal says “without further application”.

Of course like any document needing notarization, don’t sign it until you are in front of the notary.

We took ours in person to the courthouse in Georgetown    They let us ( Mrs “Clarence” and I) in together looked everything over, notarized and I wrote one check for $130.
