Hello all!
« on: March 27, 2021, 02:52:13 PM »
Wish I had run across this forum before I applied- they sent my 5 character references back to me saying they did not state sufficient reason for me to have the CCDW.
Regards,
Simon Sharp, Sussex Co.

Maybe the form has changed since I got mine years ago, but what do the references have to do with your reason??  The references simply verify you are you and of good character.  The only reason I know of are protection of family self, property.

The last question asks do you know why the applicant is applying for the ccdw?  Y/N.

In the past it was sufficient to answer n. NOW applications are being rejected for it.

That is what happened to me; a couple of Character References just checked "NO", because the box was there, and they really didn't know why I wanted the CCDW; Only that it was my RIGHT to own and possess.

If 'NO' isn't an option, then why is it on the form??

This is their way, I guess, to trip you up, trick you, impede you, make you jump through hoops....and want to buy another gun!!!!

So, I went back to the people that were kind enough to fill out the form, and had them put in more detail that they really did not know, and was none of their business.  I tell you, this bullshit Delaware House, Senate, and Governor need to be put in their place!

Simon (waiting another 3 months, probably)

There WAS a time NO was good enough.  Today, no....  Get them to fix their reference questionnaire and resubmit ASAP.  Dont know if they'll screw you on the 45 days for the finger printing.

Thank you Radnor; I did turn it around in one day, so hopefully I will be good.
Also, in your 'Delaware CCW Process' instructions, it might be helpful to indicate that on the Character References (they now require 5), the 'NO' box is a trick, and is not an option.

You're welcome.

Take it with Marino?  If so, Marino & Peterman were in my instructor classes YEARS ago.
