Number of CCDW Licenses in DE

Well folks, if anyone was curious, the total number of active CCDW permits statewide in Delaware as of the end of September 2024 is 31,738.  New Castle has the highest total with 14,206; Sussex is second with 9,824; and Kent is last with 7,708.  The Superior Court does actually track the numbers.  The link is sort of buried on the Court's website though, if you're interested, here's the link:

Thanks for this link, and I like that they publish and update this information monthly.  However I don't understand the discrepancy between the March 2025 total active CCDW permits # of 33,534 versus the very bottom of the spreadsheet showing total active CCDW permits of 289,522.  When I took the CCDW course in Lewes, the instructor stated that based on that lower larger number, more than 20% of the DE population (presumably including both adults & children) had CCDW permits which I have a hard time believing.  It's confusing.  Well, confusing to me!

That bottom number is obviously a typo.   The total active permit numbers will be wonkie due to the Delaware policy of every permit ( at the 3 or 5 year expiration) expires on May 31st.  The total active numbers will take a dip as late renewals and non renewals will affect the bottom line.  The totals will then go back up as new and later applications are processed.
