Dogs at Christiana Mall??

Dogs in the Mall???

We don?t frequent Christiana Mall very often but last time we were there, I noticed a sign out front of the main entrance advertising dogs in the mall sniffing for weapons.  I?m aware of their anti gun policy but has anyone actually seen these dogs at the mall or are they just calling our bluff?   Just curious.

I do carry in places that are posted, except for government offices.  Better safe than dead.  Unless they catch me at the door, I carry.  If they catch me, I do my business elsewhere.

I actually thought about going to the mall after the range and see how much they hassle me.  I wouldn't be carrying at the time of this experiment though

I just don't know what the dogs are smelling.  If your gun is clean enough can they really smell burnt gun powder? Are they smelling CLP? brass?

Interesting idea. CLP, powder fumes, burnt powder, all of the above would be my guess. Wouldn?t take much with a sense of smell thousands of times more sensitive than humans.

The real question is if the dog alerts will the police escort you out automatically or are you subject to search?

Best to refuse the sniff or the search.

I don't think you can refuse a sniff.  For the dog the scent is in plain sight,  and it would smell you without violating your personal space.  A search would verify.  I'm guessing it's like if a cop pulls you over and smells alcohol.  They can't arrest you on smell alone so they have to get the blood or breathalyzer

Well then Inwoukd just turn around and walk out.   I wouldn?t patronize that place anyway.

It is private property so they have a right to make the rules.  I?ll just not spend money there.

What he said.  I do not patronize places that advertise No Guns.  I have been at Christiana twice since it opened.  Once forced by wife, the other when my Iphone died.  Carried then.

I've had the unfortunate need to pop into the Christiana Mall a couple of times for odds and ends (once to drop off a watch to be sent back to Omega for service and pick it up a few weeks later, and a second time to have the screen on my iPhone replaced) since this has gone into effect.  They do indeed have dogs in the mall, I've not had an issue, however...and yes I was carrying.  Were I to be hassled about as much, I'd simply do my business elsewhere.

Stat strapped or get clapped folks.

I am a gun smith, a reloader, and a shooter, if those dogs pass my scent, they must be really bad.  But I avoid that mall.
