How many of you are NRA members and why/why not?
« on: February 24, 2009, 11:50:40 AM »
Curious as to the benefits (or drawbacks) of joining the NRA.  How many of you are members and why or why not?  Right now its not something on my "to do" list, but then I decided I dont know enough about it to make a decision one way or the other.  I'd like to hear your thoughts.

While there are certain perks i.e. coupons, discounts for one car insurance company... the choice is obviously yours to make.

Bottom line, the NRA has been defending our second amendment rights for a long time now. The more members, the more powerful the group. I just joined not too long ago after years of debating. I get a (very educational) magazine and just the pride of being a member of the NRA. I also get the national gun news via email and Youtube, which tells me what the biased media does not.

I would rather have a NRA member in front of me than a Brady member behind me.

Really nice magazines. I've been a member for as long as I can remember and after watching how much work their lawyers put into the Heller v DC case I'm glad I am. No one else is going to stand up for our gun rights like they do
Honey I swear I've had that gun for years!

So membership entitles you to some form of legal representation? Or you're referring to the fact that these guys have their ducks in a row and can stand behind you (and your lawyer)?

Magazines? Geez.. I guess I'd have to choose which one to read... Martha Stewart or NRA Monthly LOL   ;D

I don't know that they would represent you unless your case was some how landmark type. But They do alot of lobbying at all levels of goverment in hopes that you won't need representation.
