I've been stewing on this for a while and while it's a good recognition of the right to armed defense as outlined in the Constitution, I take umbrage at the fact that this is giving a right of THE PEOPLE to illegal aliens. As used in the Constitution, the term "the People" is applied to the political class of persons in the United States, meaning citizens and lawful aliens. Illegal aliens are by definition, and as interpreted by courts, not members of the political class whose rights are protected by the Constitution. They do not have the right to vote in elections, to serve on a jury, or to seek/hold public office. They, therefore, are not "the People" to whom the Bill of Rights applies. This creates a dangerous precedent as in 1787 when the first Congress ratified Articles I, II, and III of the Constitution, the rights and government created therein was meant to apply to the citizenry and by extension the same is true of the Bill of Rights when it was ratified in 1791. Illegal aliens are not members of the citizenry or the extended political class of legal aliens.
